Honey Singh (also known as Yo! Yo! Honey Singh) is a Punjabi rap singer, composer, singer and film actor. Honey Singh began his tenure as a session and recording artist in 2008 and soon became a Bhangra musician. Honey Singh has also tried his hand at Bollywood and currently he has become the highest paid artist for a single song. Nowadays, he has a song in almost every film. He learned rap singing at Trinity University in England (School of Trinity).


Early life :


        Rapper, music producer, singer Yo Yo Honey Singh, who created an uproar in Bollywood with his banging music, was born on 15 March 1983 in Hoshiarpur, Punjab to a Sikh family. Yo Yo Honey Singh's real name is Hirdesh Singh. Hirdesh Singh is known by the people and by his stage name Yo Yo Honey Singh or Honey Singh. Hirdesh Singh studied music from Trinity School in Britain and later moved to Delhi with his family.

Debut in Bollywood:


        He has become a well-known name in Bollywood. He was noticed since his debut song, sung for the first time in the film 'Shakal Pe Mat Ja'. He has been paid 7 million for singing in the upcoming film Mastan which also stars Naseeruddin Shah, which is the highest amount any singer has ever paid in Bollywood. His sung song is also featured in the English beat Saif Ali Khan film Cocktail.

 

        He gained more fame and popularity in late 2013 when he got a chance to sing in Bollywood's big budget films like 'Chennai Express' and 'Boss'. His lungi dance climbed on people's tongues. He also sang and performed with Amitabh Bachchan in the film 'Bhootnath Returns'.


        His songs sung in small budget movies like Mere Dad's Maruti, Bajte Raho and Phugli also became quite popular. He suddenly disappeared from Bollywood in 2014 and did not give any music of any kind for months. There were many speculations about his disappearance, but they were all mostly faked. After missing in 2014, he returned in February 2015 with the song Birthday Bash.


Yo Yo is crazy about cricket:


        Honey Singh is a big cricket fan. When India defeated Pakistan in the 2003 World Cup. During that time Honey was celebrating, driving madly in his WagonR car. Early in his career he has also been a fan of Bally Sagoo and Punjabi MC. He is a fan of American astrologer Linda Goodman and an astrologer. Apart from this, he is also a fitness freak and does 2 hours of workouts daily.


Personal life discussed


        Although Honey Singh is always in discussion about his songs, but he remained in the headlines for his personal life. Till August last year, there was suspense on whether they were married or not, but they had confirmed their marriage by suddenly bringing wife Shalini in the reality show 'India's Raw Star'. Earlier photos of their wedding had also gone viral on the internet, but Honey Singh called them a photoshoot. Not only did she confirm the news of her marriage on the set of 'India's Raw Star', but also revealed how special Shalini is to her.


Controversy :


        After the 2012 Delhi gang rape case, she sang an obscene song, the women were insulted, so a report was lodged against Honey Singh and the case reached the High Court. Similarly, in Akshay Kumar's Boss film, he sang a song called Party All Night, in which some vulgar words were uttered which were later removed due to which Singh had to travel to Delhi High Court.


Interesting points:


1. Honey Singh received the "Yo Yo" slag from his African-American friends, which means "your own". That is why his name gives him his own special identity "Your Own Honey".

2. In 2012 he won 2 places in the top 10 trending videos of YouTube. His song Brown Color was on the first place and High Hills was in fourth place.

3. Yo Yo has also worked in Punjabi films such as Mirza and Main Tera 22 Tu Mera 22. In 2014 he made his Bollywood debut, his first film is The Expos. After failing in his debut, Honey Singh returned to Punjabi Sinma again in the middle of 2015, and he did the film Zorawar.

4. Yo Yo shot his song "Brown Color" in Dubai at a cost of $ 100,000.

5. In 2006, Honey Singh became number one in the BCC World Chart.

6. Singh's album "International Villager" became the Highest Grossing Punjabi album of all time.

7. He took Rs 70 lakhs for the song "Mere Neet Pila De Sajna" from Sunil Bohra's film Mastan and since then he became the most expensive singer in Bollywood history. Till date, no Bollywood artist has been given so much money for a song.
